The Gem Forecast 2026: A Vision of Intelligent Beauty

I’m thrilled to share Kimjoux’s new feature in The Life of Luxury, where I had the chance to speak about a shiftt I’m seeing for 2026.

Kimjoux’s forecast for 2026 looks beyond fleeting styles. I call this movement intelligent boldness - strength refined by sensitivity, sentiment shaped into form. Jewellery that feels intimate, quietly confident, and enduring.

Each gem has its own personality, history, and emotional presence. And perhaps that’s why collectors are finally giving them the attention they deserve.

Let me share why these stones matter and why I’m so excited to design with them in the year ahead.

PARAÍBA TOURMALINE - THE GEM THAT GLOWS FROM WITHIN

The first time I saw a Paraíba tourmaline, it didn’t look real. Its neon aqua-blue glow feels almost electric, like light running under the surface. That effect is caused by copper and manganese, a rare combination found in only a few locations: originally Brazil’s Paraíba state, later Mozambique and Nigeria.

  • It’s one of the rarest gemstones on earth, rarer than most diamonds.
  • Prices have surged over 400% in a decade, especially for stones with that vivid “swimming pool” glow and command the highest prices and the strongest collector interest.

I love Paraíba tourmaline in minimalist, fluid settings, platinum or soft white-gold bands that let light breathe through the stone.

SPINEL - THE UNDERSTATED GEM WITH CULT STATUS

FANCY YELLOW DIAMONDS - A WARM, OPTIMISTIC GLOW

For years, colourless diamonds dominated the conversation. But recently, yellow diamonds have been having a renaissance not the oversized, overly bright yellows of past decades, but deeply saturated, compact radiants that feel considered and modern.

  • Their colour comes from nitrogen, which absorbs blue light and creates that honeyed glow.
  • 2026 is shaping up to be a year of optimistic, uplifting colours, and yellow diamonds embody that perfectly.
  • They pair beautifully with warm golds, modern bezels, and distinctive cuts.
  • High-quality fancy yellows are becoming rarer at auction, especially intense and vivid grades.

What I love about yellow diamonds is how they radiate joy without losing sophistication. They feel like a small sun captured in a gem a mood booster you can wear.

ANTIQUE WHITE DIAMONDS - SOUL, HISTORY, CHARACTER

Old mine and old European cut diamonds have never been as celebrated as they deserve. Their beauty is not about perfection; it’s about feel, the soft glow, the slower sparkle, the slightly asymmetrical charm.

Each one was cut entirely by hand in the 18th–19th centuries, guided by candlelight rather than laser precision.

  • Antique diamonds are inherently sustainable; no new mining, no modern environmental impact.
  • Their warm, romantic glow pairs beautifully with contemporary design.
  • They offer real individuality no two antique cuts are ever alike.

These diamonds tell stories. And in a world craving authenticity, that matters.

The Shift Plump Ring with Pearshape Diamond

The design language of this new year leans into sculptural sensuality: fluid curves, soft satin finishes, knife-edge lines, and stones set to breathe. Gold, platinum, and titanium each tell their own story through texture and luminosity.

What excites me most is that clients today aren’t asking “What’s new?” but “What feels like me?”

That’s the heart of Kimjoux. Jewellery built with intention, crafted for your present, and ready to grow with your future.
